HSSC TGT and HPSC PGT: understanding the difference

Aspirants often prepare for HSSC TGT and HPSC PGT together, and for good reason: the subject preparation overlaps. But the two exams are different in important ways.

Who conducts them

TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) recruitment is conducted by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission. PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) recruitment is conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission.

Which classes you teach

A TGT teaches the middle and secondary classes. A PGT teaches senior secondary classes, 11th and 12th, so the subject knowledge expected is at post graduate level.

How to prepare for both

  • Build subject depth first; it helps in both exams
  • Prepare Haryana GK and reasoning once, and revise them for each exam
  • Practise previous year papers of each commission separately, because their styles differ
  • Read every notification carefully for eligibility and pattern

Abhyaskul prepares candidates for HTET, HSSC TGT and HPSC PGT with notes, video lectures and a test series. Mathematics candidates are guided by Dr. Himanshu Singla.
